Yahoo Launched an Innovative AI Answer Engine – ‘Yahoo Scout’

Making a solid comeback in search engines, Yahoo has just launched a new AI-powered answer engine – Yahoo Scout. The Internet Pioneer has now entered the AI search war with the first version of its tool. This innovative tool is available at scout.yahoo.com  and is embedded across Yahoo’s networking, including Yahoo Search, Finance, News, and mail. Yahoo Scout is available in beta, designed to compete with Google’s AI Mode, ChatGPT’s real-time search feature, and Perplexity.

What is Yahoo Scout?

Yahoo Scout is a fully-featured AI search engine companion with a unique Yahoo fair. It leverages the company’s unique data and insights with over three decades of history for searching, shifting search results from links to answers and search terms to natural language queries.

Yahoo Scout search synthesises information on the open web, including the company’s own content and user data, to deliver clear and concise responses. As stated by the company, this new engine is backed by 500 million user profiles and a knowledge graph across one billion entities.

The Function of Yahoo Scout

The purpose of Scout is to provide an actual personality – fun, engaging, and easy for people of all ages to utilise and understand.

​When visiting Yahoo Scout, users are greeted with a playful homepage with a search box, tagline, and an icon, making the experine friend and welcoming.

​Under the search box, the platform offers suggested searches with filters for varied topics.

On the left side, the platform presents old searches to make it easy access to where you left off.

The Advantages of Yahoo Scout

The interface of this Yahoo search present familiar interface for users who have used competing tools, with Yahoo-specific elements. Yahoo stays ahead of other AI-search competitors with its massive built-in audiences.

Yahoo further maintains more than one billion knowledge-graph entities and tracks 18 trillion consumer events and signals across the properties. With all these datas and insights, Yahoo presents the ability to deliver more personal AI-driven search experiences and to categorise queries.

Yahoo Scouts can pull informative content from across the platform to respond directly response to users directly.

Key Features

Model: Yahoo has collaborated with Anthropic to use Claude as the main AI Model for search. The company is further harnessing its connection with Microsoft by utilising Bing’s grounding API to make sure answers are supported by authoritative data.

Shopping: A new shopping feature has also been added on the AI-search platform to present insights from valuable articles and reviews to compare brands and products instantly. The feature focuses on providing shoppable links that allow users to get the results without opening numerous tabs.

Yahoo Finance: With this feature, users can get real-time insights across business news, analyst raiting financials with just one click. The purpose of this feature is to synthesise clear analysis with headlines that refresh every 10 minutes.

The Yahoo Scout is crafted for day-to-day tasks, from checking weather forecasts before planning a trip, verifying news claims, to getting sports updates. The best part is suers do not need to hop around multiple pages.

As of now, Yahoo Scout is available through Scount.Yahoo.com for US users only, and the Yahoo Search App on iOS and Android. Around 250 million users can use the beta with braders expansion and better personalisation planned in the next few months.

Focused on Its Mission: Sending Traffic to Publisher

Closely tied to its actual purpose, Yahoo is focused on being a trusted guide to the internet. From the initial level, Yahoo has developed Scout to honour the open web by driving traffic downstream to content creators.

The Yahoo Scout presents answers in large, wide blue highlights across the text. While using, when users hover over them, you will be able to find the source. Each answer will include a ‘featured source’ that is visible and accessible easily accessible. Further, the AI-based search tools focus on content with tables and images while checking for relevant news articles and sources throughout their answers. Other AI-based search engines are not so much focused on sending traffic back to the sources behind their answers as Yahoo Scout is.

Further, Yahoo Scout has added several elements to Yahoo Mail, like adding calendar events, a smart compose feature, and more. Yahoo has promised to come up with more features and advancements.
